Update from ArchBishop Stephen from Uganda
Pastor and Mission Team at Providence Church Holland Michigan.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Thanks for your prayers because I have a lot of responsibilities to invite everyone to dialogue.
I have been doing meaningful engagements with security officers, opposition leaders, government leaders, diplomats, and the Electoral Commission team, among others.
Most of the people in our country are young.
The recent nation census last year showed that the population of Uganda is around 45 million, but 75 percent are young people 30 years and below. We have many who are not employed, and this brings a lot of unrest.
After the election, which was won by Gen. Yoweri Museveni by 71:3%, the main opposition leader, a former Musician known as Bobi Wine, and his party disagreed with the results, and he is hiding in an unknown place The Interreligious Council of Uganda is an interfaith organization with 7 member denominations that I lead have now embarked on the duty of reconciliation, reuniting the people, consoling the loosers, meeting different stakeholders and praying for the nation.
Currently, things are relatively good, though many young people were expecting a change of a president from one who has been in leadership since 1986.
Thanks for your prayers and support of different kinds, including finances, to reach out to the needy, especially the refugees.
We have just finished a convention in Western Uganda where i have been the main speaker and it has attracted over 3000 people for 4 days.
Many people came to the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
