Up, In and Out
Followers of Jesus come from all walks of life. We all have different stories, different things we’re good at, different ways of doing things. However, we’re all called to the same mission: to encounter God (go up), engage the church (go in), and to enter the world (go out). As simple as these things are, living them out requires sacrifice and discipline. We tend to over-complicate things, procrastinate, and diminish the authority and agency we have been given through Christ. For example, have you ever said or thought something similar to the following phrases?
“I should pray more, but I just don’t know what to say. I’m not good at it.”
“I’m not sure how to talk about Jesus to people that don’t know him.”
“I want to get more involved eventually, but now isn’t really the best time.”
“I’m not really that outgoing, it would be out of character for me.”
